Featured Equipment

I have spent many hours operating a professional grade camera and housing system and I enjoy putting that experience to work for clients. I can either shoot my equipment or your equipment to ensure you get the perfect footage for your project.

Camera and Housing

Current Camera:

Sony HDR CX550 with enhanced optics, 200GB of solid-state memory capacity, and EXMOR sensors.  It allows for a customized shoot both above and below the water.  This camera is 100% solid-state memory, ensuring that no footage is lost even if catastrophic damage happens to the camera itself.  The battery allows up to 5 hours of high resolution video to be filmed in between battery charges.

Current Housing and Lighting:

Light & Motion Bluefin Pro and Fathom 90 port for enhanced viewfinding.  This housing is fully digital and lets me shoot full resolution video and still photos “on the fly”.  It also allows in-water review of footage to ensure the shoot is done to the client’s specifications.  I also have a macro-diopter filter which allows for active switching between small and large subjects during the course of one dive or one shoot.  The housing and filter/diopter system are very flexible, allowing me to give you the shot you want.

This housing is paired with Light & Motion Sola LED lighting systems.  Use of lights is dependent on shoot conditions.  The lights allow for a wide range of lighting options and can be dimmed or brightened “on the fly” during the dive, or even mid-shot should the need arise. Shoots can move between filter use with ambient light to full lighting and back again easily.

Off-axis lighting is readily available for those shoots that call for a different feel or look to the footage.  Because the Seainggreen team is comprised of highly qualified divers, off-axis lighting is provided by a seasoned professional who understands the interplay of lighting and subject to provide a beautiful finished product.

I also have a GoPro Hero 3+ UW setup with SOLA800 lights that provides alternative perspective video options and "first person diver" perspective options as well.

Editing Suite for Post-Production

Final Cut Studio / Final Cut Pro

I have been extensively trained by an Apple Certified Pro (who specializes in underwater videography and in film post-production) in the use of Final Cut Studio.  I’m adept at manipulating images in post-production suite, complete with color-correction, video effects, titling and sequencing, and licensed music use.  I have logged many hours of video editing, and I am adept at crafting final-product video in addition to just capturing stock image shots that are incorporated into documentary projects. I also have myriad plug-ins for effects, music, and sequencing that allow each and every project to have a customized and unique look/feel.  These tools help me craft spectacular finished products!

Dive Equipment

I dive a Hogarthian dive setup whether diving a single tank or doubles, and I own all of my own dive gear.  I have all of the required equipment to complete any shoot.  I am equally at home diving shallow depths in a single tank as I am diving deep depths requiring doubles and multiple deco bottles.    All equipment save drysuits can be made free of logos so that “follow the diver” footage can be provided without conflicting endorsement messages.  My drysuits come from DUI (Diving Unlimited International) which is widely regarded as the best manufacturer of drysuits in the world.  I own both a TLS350 and CF200 (shown on my work sample page).

I also have a diver propulsion vehicle (ie: scooter) that allows me extended travel ranges at dive sites.  I am able to utilize my camera while scootering to capture “fly by” footage while on the move, as well as to shoot subjects upon arriving at a destination while scootering.
